Career Summary:

Coach JD Martinez graduated from Granbury High School in 1986, where he earned All-District and All-Area honors earning a scholarship to the University of North Texas. While at UNT, he was a four year letterman and three year starter earning All-Conference honors his senior year.


Coach Martinez is entering his 3rd year as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach in Bridgeport. In his first year, he led the football team to an appearance in the 2021 4A DII State Playoffs. Under Martinez’s leadership, several Bridgeport athletic teams have enjoyed success. Girls' cross country placed 8th and boys' golf finished 3rd in State. Six other teams have made the state playoffs, and lots of athletes have made it to regionals.


Prior to Bridgeport, Coach Martinez rejuvenated the athletic program at Sherman High School. The football team went from 1-19 to 24-28, reaching the playoffs three times in four years.


Coach Martinez has had other coaching stints at Marcus, L.D. Bell, Keller Central, Boswell, Fossil Ridge (State Semi-Finalist 2001), Arlington Heights, Tuloso-Midway, and served as a Grad Assistant at Texas A&M Commerce.
